William
P. Kleven, Partner
Bill Kleven founded Da Vinci Capital in
2002 after a 24 year career in the banking industry.
Mr. Kleven served as President of Huntington
Banks' Michigan operation (1998-2001) consisting of 1,200 employees,
133 branches and $5.5 billion of assets. He was responsible
for all commercial, retail, private banking, community relations,
and merger and acquisition activity. From 1989 to 1998, Mr.
Kleven served as Huntington Bancshares' Senior Lending Officer
and Manager of the Central Ohio Commercial Banking Group in
Columbus, OH. Each role entailed responsibility for the organization,
approval and management of significant commercial banking activities.
From1978 to 1989, Mr. Kleven served in corporate
banking and credit policy roles with Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh,
PA. and Houston, TX.
Mr. Kleven hold both a BS in Finance and an MBA
in Finance from the Ohio State University.
Bill lives in Grand Rapids, MI. with his wife,
Mary Jane and three children, Andrea, Jonathon and Erik.
Michael
J. Whalen,
Partner
Mike Whalen joined Da Vinci Capital in 2003 after
spending 31 years in the banking industry.
Mr. Whalen served as Senior Vice President and
Chief Credit Officer for the Fifth Third Bank (Western Michigan)
and its predecessor organization Old Kent Financial Corporation
from 1997 to 2003. From 1985 to 1997, he served as President
of Old Kent affiliates in Kalamazoo, Traverse City, and Chicago.
From 19789 to 1985, Mr. Whalen was associated with
National City Bank and its predecessor, BancOhio National Bank
in Columbus, Ohio. During the first half of his tenure, Mr. Whalen
was responsible for strategic planning where he coordinated the
merger of forty affiliated banks into a single statewide entity.
Subsequently, he managed the metropolitan commercial loan department.
From 1972 to 1978, Mr. Whalen was involved in strategic
planning and merger and acquisition activity for Northern States
Financial Corporation, a multi-bank holding company headquartered
in Detroit.
Mr. Whalen hold both a BA in Economics and an MBA
in Finance from the University of Michigan.
Mike lives in Ada, Michigan, with his wife, Sandy.
They have two grown children: a son, Cris, in Phoenix, AZ. and
a daughter, Meredith, in New York City, NY.
David
S. Hooker,
Partner
David Hooker joined Da Vinci Capital in early 2004
after 20 years in the automotive industry and real estate investment
business.
Most recently, Mr. Hooker served as president and
Managing Member of C&H Holding, LLC. C&H Holdings is a closely
held investment company holding equity positions in automotive
and real estate.
Mr. Hooker served as president and COO of Mazda
Great Lakes (MGL), an independently owned distributor of Mazda
vehicles and parts. Mr. Hooker's responsibilities included providing
leadership to 110 employees and 120 dealers; strategic planning
and developing and implementing the company's goals and objectives;
managing the relationship with Mazda North American Operations
and other suppliers; vehicle sales, parts sales, dealer development,
after sale service, human resources, public and governmental
relations and flight operations.
Mr. Hooker joined MGL in 1984 and was appointed
president in 1996. Other positions held include: Vice-President
Administration, Special Projects and Dealer Relations Manager,
Advertising Manager, District Sales Manager, and Dealer Development
Coordinator.
In 1999, Mr. Hooker served as the lead negotiator
for strategic sales to the Mazda Corporation. The Ford Motor
Company had acquired the Mazda Corporation.
From 1981 to 1983, Mr. Hooker was a Professional
Staff Member of the United States Senate Budget Committee in
Washington, DC.
Mr. Hooker holds a BA from Kenyon College with
a major in Economics and an MBA from the University of Michigan
with a concentration in marketing. He currently lives in Grand
Rapids with his wife, Leslie and three children, Tanis, Lauren
and Charlotte.
